MTB tour via Pochi to the Monte Corno

A day-long circular tour from the Adige valley floor up to the Malga Corno at 1,715 metres in the Monte Corno Nature Park

The starting point for our mountain bike tour on this August day is Laghetti south of Egna, though any other location along the route can also be chosen as a starting point. We ride southwards along the Via Molini road, which is lined with apple orchards, to the hamlet of San Giovanni near Salorno. Here, the road to the hamlets of Pochi and Cauria begins.

Now we head uphill, and after a few hairpin bends, we reach Pochi di Salorno at about 550 metres above sea level. We follow the asphalt road up to the mountain village of Cauria: Deciduous and mixed forest, interspersed with vineyards, shapes the landscape.

In Cauria at 1,330 metres, the gravel road to the Monte Corno (Trudner Horn) begins: We follow the "E5" trail sign. This path is generally so well laid out that riding is easy, with only a short washed-out section and another featuring some broken cobblestones.

Then, an enjoyable path leads to the Corno Hut in the Monte Corno Nature Park. For those arriving at lunchtime, we highly recommend enjoying the traditional South Tyrolean cuisine, accompanied by views across the Dolomites. The descent to Trodena follows the forest track.

The asphalt road then takes us to Molini and Gleno towards Montagna - at the entrance to Montagna, the road to Pinzano and Egna branches off to the left. From Egna, we follow the Adige embankment along the Bassa Atesina Cycle Path to Laghetti, where we complete the loop.
