Sant’Antonio di Fié

From Sant’Antonio near Fiè allo Sciliar you can visit the famous Fiè Pond and the St. Constantine Pond

On the way from Fiè allo Sciliar to Siusi allo Sciliar lies the settlement of Sant'Antonio (St. Anton), one of the larger districts of the municipality of Fiè. The small village has grown considerably in recent years, and now presents itself as a quiet holiday resort near the Fiè Pond. From here, a hike also takes you to a second lake, the St. Constantine Pond. In contrast to the much-visited Fiè Pond, it is a quiet place and has its own special charm near the eponymous hamlet of San Costantino.

Near Sant'Antonio there is a chapel dedicated to St. Anthony, which you can visit on a walk through the village. The villages in the Sciliar region - like many others in South Tyrol - are often named after their church patron. This St. Anthony Church is located right along the road, but it is so well hidden by the trees that it is not immediately visible. The building is kept simple: On the outside, a fresco of the saint, called Sant'Antonio in Italian, with the Child Jesus adorns the walls.

The village is well connected to public transport: The public bus takes you from here to the surrounding villages of Fiè, to the provincial capital of Bolzano, and to the Siusi Alp Cable Car. This enables direct access to the largest high alpine pasture in Europe with its numerous hiking trails, mountain bike routes, cross-country ski tracks and the Alpe di Siusi Ski Area. In the middle of it all, the mountain huts invite you to take a break in the sun and enjoy some of the local specialities.
