Cornaiano

The wine village of Cornaiano spreads out on the sun-drenched plateau above San Michele Appiano and Frangarto

Houses, vineyards and wineries seem to alternate in Cornaiano (Girlan, in German) - here everything revolves around wine. The beautiful panoramic position makes the village not only an ideal growing area, but also a popular place to live. The houses in the Oltradige style with their archways and bay windows in the village centre tell of old times - you could even call them manor houses.

Right in the centre is the parish church of St. Martin, around which the famous "Martinimarkt" is held: Every year on the 11th of November, the market is celebrated with autumnal delicacies and music. But Cornaiano also knows how to celebrate in the remaining months: "The last grape load" marks the end of the grape harvest and the Cornaiano Cellar Festival honours the wine and the wineries in the village that produce it. It is an interesting experience to descend to underground Cornaiano and take a closer look at the ancient cellars while enjoying a good drop of wine. The wineries are also always represented at the Vinitaly, the international trade fair for wines and distillates in Verona.

In the sunlight, hikes to the Monticolo Lakes and along the Nature and Wine Educational Trail, cycle tours to Caldaro and the Mendola Pass and a stop or two at one of the old inns await you.
