At the Lakes of Monticolo plenty of fun and action can be experienced. The lakes have very good water quality and invite to jump in. The Malga di Tarres alpine pasture in the Val Venosta valley is starting point for numerous high alpine hiking tours. Today we show you gorgeous peaks on the Val Venosta Monte Tramontana mountain. The tour leads us up to the high mountains, the camera crew is pretty challenged. Although we experience a fantastic sense of delight!
Together with the bike school “Südtirol Bike” we discover bikehiking today. We start under the motto “discover old ways anew” and focus our attention on the Ortles front and the area of the Passo dello Stelvio. There the horrible mountain warfare was fought more than 100 years ago. Come with us and explore the upper Val Venosta alpine world apart from known trails.

During a hike in the ski and mountain pasture range Gitschberg Jochtal, the beautiful Fundres mountains paint a breathtaking backdrop as we discover quaint pastures as well as a pristine glacial lake which lies at an altitude of 2350m.
Today we visit a few young adventurers who are taking the „Cribble Crabble“ climbing tour in Valles, a mountain pasture region that can be found in Gitschberg Jochtal. Together with their mountain guide Paul, the children can safely learn the professional way with which to use safety ropes, spring hooks and carabiners. Soon it begins… The first rays of sunlight, come into view. Going up to an altitude of 2000m with the cable car in the Jochtal valley in Valles, we experience a picture perfect sunrise. Those who are willing to get up at the crack of dawn will be rewarded with the most beautiful view that the summer has to offer, high up on the summit of the “Stoanernen Mandl”.
The Fundres farm trail, found in the municipality of Vandoies is one of the favourite trails of Waltraad Niederkofler, our local guide. This, somewhat challenging hike, is one of the most beautiful in the alpine region of Jochtal Gitschberg.
The combination of bike and train is an optimal way to discover South Tyrol. An excellent network of well-maintained bike trails that seamlessly connect to public transportation systems along with many bike rental stations, makes South Tyrol a paradise for cyclists. An example of this is a relaxing biking adventure through the high via Pusteria valley from Valdaora to San Candido.
In South Tyrol, rail and bike can be combined almost seamlessly. At many train stations bicycles may be rented out and can be returned at different rental points. We decided to test these connections by taking a realxing tour through the val Pusteria valley.
A combination of bike and train is a wonderful way to experience South Tyrol. With well maintained trails and an excellent infrastructure connecting the cycling routes with public transportation makes South Tyrol a true paradise for cyclists. An additional bonus is the possibility to rent bikes for a one way trip. As an example, we take you with us as we explore the road between Naturno and Glorenzo on our bicycles.
The mountain world has endless facets and contains magic moments. Particularly lovely and peaceful the mountains are in the evening and at sunset. In the Val d’Ega valley the Corno Bianco mountain is located, which is perfectly suited for a sunset hike, due to its accessibility and the gorgeous all-round panorama. At a fantastic summer’s eve we were there with the camera.

We climb the legendary Rosengarten in the Dolomites on the Via Ferrata Masarè. This Via Ferrata is really varying, it gets by many ridges and crevices. At some points it is quite exposed and we will have to climb around some rock formations.
The via ferrata Heini Holzer leads us to the Picco d’Ivigna, the mountain symbol of Merano. This via ferrata is also indicated for inexperienced climbers, though a certain condition is required. It takes its name by the famous South Tyrolean alpinist and extreme skier Heini Holzer, which chose exactly this mountain for his alpine activities.
The picturesque alpine pasture in Valles, situated in the Valle Isarco valley, sets the stage for the South Tyrolean Milk Festival. Visitors love this event, where once a year, South Tyrolean farmers proudly present their handiwork in the form of fresh products.
Join us for this challenging bike tour in the area of the Passo dello Stelvio. We‘ll have a closer look at the trenches of the alpini, which are technically quite demanding, but very scenic. Please note that this tour is appropriate only for experts.
Obereggen is a real hiking paradise for both young and old! It is the warmest bathing lake of the Alps and one of the most popular destinations in South Tyrol, the Lake of Caldaro. Situated south of Caldaro in the middle of vineyards it offers many sportive, cultural and gastronomical opportunities to spend a perfect day. We captured the Lake of Caldaro from above.
Alpine hiking surrounded by the stunning mountain backdrops of the Ries-Aurina nature park. Awe undertake a somewhat challenging day trip that takes us to the Rifugio Roma mountain hut and further on to the Lago Malersee Lake situated at an altitude of 2500m.
Mountain hiking through the High Via Pusteria Valley with a spectacular sunrise awaiting on an altitude of 2600m. A moderate trek takes us up to the Rifugio Bonner mountain hut in Dobiacco, where we resume our adventure the next day to Corno di Fana.
Today our three-hour hike takes us from Caldaro to Roen. Mount Roen, with an altitude of 2216m is the highest mountain in the region of Mendola, situated on the border between South Tyrol and Trentino.

The Val Gardena Valley offers an extraordinary mountain landscape, which is among the most beautiful in the world. Situated in the north west of the Dolomites, this area is characterised by a fascinating natural landscape and combines it with a large number of holiday suggestions. Water is one of the most powerful forces in nature. A perfect example demonstrating the power of water can be observed at the Gilfenklamm Gorge in Racines, where over millions of years, water has carved a path through solid rock. The results of this erosion make this gorge one of the most beautiful in the Alps. Today we wind our way through this world created by water and discover everything that Gilfenklamm has to offer.
In a small village with only 200 inhabitants, found at the foot Alpe di Suisi, where sheep and cattle leisurely graze, an innkeeper decided to recreate King Laurin’s rose garden. This rose garden has the highest altitude of any other rose garden found in Europe. At 1500 asl, over 7000 rose bushes consisting of 250 varieties grow along a serpentine path. This almost inexhaustible diversity can be found at Bula in the rose garden which is open during the months of July until September. Entry is free.

Caldaro’s beer garden makes its guests simply feel at ease. There’s nothing like a cool pint of lager on a hot summer day. Two special lakes are the focal point of this relatively long albeit comfortable mountain tour in the expansive Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park: Lake Braies, situated at an altitude of 1500m as well as Lake Colli Alti at 2250m asl.
Hiking in the pristine and almost untouched Valle di Scaleres valley by Varna. A somewhat challenging, half day hike, takes us up to the Schrüttensee lakes (Laghi Gelati), resting at an altitude of 2000m.

The Sopranes Lakes are turquoise gems found at the end of the Val Sopranes Valley. The ten, crystal clear turquoise mountain lakes are the core of the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park. The lakes can be found at different altitudes ranging from 2120m to 2590m. The Long Lake and the Green Lake are the largest of their kind in the high alpine, lake areas of Europe. We took a closer look during a two-day excursion.
The Sopranes Lakes in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park form the largest high alpine lake district in South Tyrol. Due to their elevated location, still in summer there can be snow at the lakesides.
