Chestnut trail
The chestnut trail in the Valle Iscarco, in German called “Keschtnweg”, connects the 60 km long sunny slopes between Bolzano and Bressanone.

The Toerggele season is approaching: at the Ebnicherhof farm, the sweet chestnuts are picked up, sorted and carved. -
Back to the Ebnicherhof farm in Soprabolzano: the host is preparing the traditional dishes for a Toerggele dinner. Not only roasted chestnuts, but also dumplings, a meat platter, chestnut crullers and the new wine are served on this occasion.
Particularly in autumn, the chestnut trail is definitely one of the hiking highlights in South Tyrol. No matter if you prefer to do a tour of several days or just one or two single stages, hiking on the chestnut trail is always a great opportunity to connect hiking and enjoying tasty local dishes and drinks, particularly during the “Törggelen“ time between September and November.
In the following we present the chestnut trail leading from Bolzano to Bressanone, divided into four single stages.

This 12 km long first stage of the chestnut trail leads steadily upwards to the Renon plateau. more
