Merano 2000 Skiing Area

Above the town of Merano lies the Merano 2000 Skiing Area at the foot of Mt. Picco Ivigna. You can reach the Piffinger Köpfl mountain station with two different lifts: from Merano via the Merano 2000 Cable Car, and from Avelengo via the Falzeben Gondola Lift.

A popular hiking area in summer, Merano 2000 transforms into a ski resort in winter with around 35 kilometres of slopes, most of which are intermediate. The wide pistes of Wallpach and Falzeben are suitable for beginners, while the Steilhang and Mittager slopes are more challenging.

The mountain attracts pleasure skiers, families, and winter hikers, who can also reach the mountain huts on foot. Thanks to its proximity to the spa town, the winter package deal Terme & Ski (Thermal Baths & Ski) lets you hit the slopes first and then relax at Merano Thermal Baths - perhaps ending the day with an aperitivo in the town's charming alleys.

Families will find a wide range of activities at Merano 2000, including the Outdoor Kids Camp at the Piffing mountain station and Italy's longest toboggan run on rails, the Alpin Bob. The snow park, however, offers space for freestylers and snowboarders. It's divided into two areas, with a central hangout - a chill-out zone with internet access. Merano 2000 is part of the Ortler Skiarena.
