Hay bath

Hay baths have got a very long tradition in South Tyrol and represent a real pleasure.

In South Tyrol meadows and mountains characterise the landscape. And these meadows with all the herbs are also used by hotel-keepers… in a very special way…

The healing effect of hay has been known for centuries. That is why hay baths have always been very popular. Already mades and servants recognised, that after spending a night in the hay, they had more power for work the next day…

Nowadays several hotel-keepers in South Tyrol also offer this natural experience: early in the morning or in the evening, when the grass still contains all the ethereal oils, the grass is cut and dried afterwards. However, the hay also contains different plants like lady’s mantle, mountain arnica, gentian and thimble among the cut grass… also these plants have a beneficial effect on the body.

It is possible to enjoy hay baths the whole year round, as dried herbs can also be stored. During a hay bath, the body is wrapped in soaked hay. By the heat, the valuable elements in the herbs and plants are released and stimulate the body.

However, many hotel-keepers offer hay baths in South Tyrol:
The “Badl” of the Schlosswirt below Juval Castle in Val Venosta for example offers this special experience. Also in Fié allo Sciliar the hay bath has got a long tradition. Other parts of South Tyrol that are perfect for hay baths due to their lush meadows are the Val Pusteria and Val Sarentino.

We wish you enjoying moments.
