The South Tyrolean Chestnut Trail, the “Keschtnweg”, connects the 90-kilometre sunny slopes between Vilpiano and Bressanone

The "Keschtnweg" is a top recommendation for autumn in South Tyrol: This long-distance hiking trail can be done as a connected multi-day tour or in individual stages, returning to your starting point. The area is at its best (and most colourful) between late September and early November.
In this period, it also provides plenty of energy: The farm inns, called "Buschenschänke", invite you to enjoy Toerggelen with roasted chestnuts, dumplings and sweet Krapfen. We have tested the Chestnut Trail for you in five pleasant daily stages and gathered useful information. Each of them remains under 20 kilometres in length and does not exceed the 1,000-metre mark.
While the "Keschtnweg" was once 63 kilometres long in total, starting or ending in Bolzano, it was extended to 90 kilometres a few years ago. The stage from Roncolo Castle via the vineyards of Bolzano to Terlano and Vilpiano is now also included. Our stages begin in Terlano and end in the shorter version at the Cathedral Square in Bressanone after 75 kilometres.
