Lakes of Monticolo
The Monticolo lakes, the small one and the large one, are embedded in vast mixed forest and pinewood, in an area characterised by its mild climate.
The lakes, together with the forests, form a biotope and recreation area.
Most of the big lake is situated in the forested basin of the Monte di Mezzo and is about 700 m long and about 200-300 m wide. Both of the lakes feature public baths and are very popular in summer months for all those who love swimming and relaxing.
At the west end of the big lake, there is the largest public bath, which features a hotel, a restaurant, a heated swimming pool at the lakeside and much more. This is the perfect place for those who love sunbathing and swimming. On the vast lawn you can relax while your children enjoy splashing around in the kid’s pool or slide down the longest water slide in South Tyrol…
> Our tip: not far from the big one of the lakes, there is a branch that takes you to the idyllic locality of Monticolo. In southern direction, however, there is the so called “spring valley” that leads to the basin of lake Caldaro. :-)
