The municipality of Collalbo, located at the Renon high plateau, has got more than 1,400 inhabitants and is situated at 1,145 m asl in the heart of a fascinating natural scenery. It is undoubtedly a spot of land for those who love active holidays, no matter if you prefer experiencing the surroundings by mountain bike or on foot.
One of the most popular hikes is the walk from Collalbo to the earth pyramids, further on the the little Maria Saal pilgrimage church, the way up to the ancient health spa “Bad Siess” and back to Collalbo across the larch and pine forest.
By the way, also the speed ice skaters appreciate the high plateau of the Renon: the ice stadium of Collalbo hosts international competitions in this discipline. Those, however, who prefer spending their days on the slopes can ski in the Corno del Renon skiing area.
Our tip: already Sigmund Freud appreciated this great area and created his famous piece “Totem und Tabu” on the high plateau. A hiking trail remembers this great mind today.
