First documents about the Val di Fundres valley date back to the 11th century, when near to the so-called “Eisbrugglöcher” a bronze dagger was found. The valley has always been a popular summer resort, especially with those who do not like those hot sunny days of the cities.
The mountains surrounding the valley, particularly the Zillertal Alps, are ideally-suited to hikers and mountaineers. Experienced mountaineers for instance can look forward to an exciting climbing tour on the Gran Pilastro mountain, featuring an altitude of 3,509 m! In winter, the near-by skiing areas as Plan de Corones or Gitschberg/Jochtal are all within easy reach.
> We suggest: Visit the St Christoph frescoes of the parish church and try out a hay bath at the so-called “Duner Heuschupfe”!
