Train World Rablà

In the Train World of Rablà, exhibiting detailled miniatures, adults again become kids.

Wouldn’t it be great to play with all the little trains and figurines of the Train World Rablà? Well, unfortunately that is not possible, but you can admire the great number of landscapes, buildings and trails that have been replicated in detail in the Train World. Also the colourful Val Venosta train is exhibited in this special museum. The idea for the Train World dates back to 2004 when a South Tyrolean guest Dr. Gunther Steitz suggested to exhibit his collection of model trains in the barn of the Hotel Restaurant Hauswirt in Rablà and to open this collection to the public.

In 2008 the barn was reconstructed and the creation of a South Tyrol version for the train world was commissioned. In summer 2009 this meanwhile popular family destination was inaugurated. The result is a 300 sqm model of South Tyrol in miniature, from the Brennero to the Val Venosta. Also the Train World of South Tyrol has been integrated in this exhibition. In the scale 1:87, South Tyrolean landscapes were reconstructed and a comprehensive collection of trains was integrated. With a total of 20,000 pieces, this exhibition is one of the largest private collections of Europe. At the same time the Train World Rablà is the largest digitalized model train exhibition of Italy. Superlatives only!

Moreover there is a fantasy world called “Mittelgebirge” (low mountain range) as well as a children’s corner, in which kids can direct a train and be a locomotive engineer. The Train World of Rablà is open from March to January, in November and December only on the weekends. Larger groups or school classes also on request. Of course there are reductions for kids and family tickets.
