Monguelfo Chocolate Festival

Chocolate lovers should save the last weekend in August: That’s when everything revolves around this delightful product

The ingredients of chocolate have a slightly mood-enhancing and stimulating effect on the organism - enjoyed in moderation, chocolate is a guarantee for feelings of happiness. Monguelfo in the Upper Val Pusteria is also a fan of this delicacy and has been dedicating an entire weekend to chocolate at the end of August for more than a decade. There is chocolate in all variations: liquid and solid, bittersweet and white, as a praline and as a bar, with pepper and with wild berries.

To ensure that everyone gets their money's worth, there is also a children's programme with giant board games and the VKE Playbus, as well as entertainment with live music and folk dance groups. If anyone is unable to come along, there is a large selection of souvenirs in various shapes, sizes and flavours, all made of chocolate, of course. The Monguelfo Chocolate Festival, or Schokolade Festival Welsberg in German, takes place on the main square in the village centre. Admission is free. By the way: South Tyrol also has its first certified chocolate sommeliere, Julia Kofler.
