The Alpe di Villandro, one of the largest and most beautiful alpine pastures of South Tyrol, can be found in the Isarco valley at the foot of the 2,509 m high Monte Villandro mountain, the most southern summit of the east ridge of the Val Sarentino Alps.
Above all the great pastures and the beautiful view on the western Dolomites with Alpe di Siusi, Sciliar or Odle mountain group are the main reasons why this area is that popular. In the last years the high plateau above Villandro, which can be reached via the Gasser Huette mountain hut, has become increasingly popular. The path that takes you on the alpine pasture represents hardly any drop. Not only due to the view it offers, but also for the cosy mountain huts and the keep-fit-trails, this area is rather popular.
In fact, there are some 100 mountain huts spread all over the Alpe di Villandro, perfect for combinig hiking and a pleasant stop at one of these huts, offering delicious Tyrolean dishes you absolutely have to taste. And after a well-deseved nap at the alpine pasture you return home relaxed.
