Scena is situated on a sun-drenched hill above the city of Merano and provides a great view on the Sarentino Alps with Monte Ivigna and Monte Cervina. One of the most remarkable features of the village is the hill enthroned by the ancient and new parish churches. Equally impressive are the mausoleum and Castel Scena. -

The municipality of Scena is located at 600 m asl on a panoramic hill rising above the spa town of Merano. It comprises the localities of Verdines, San Giorgio, Talle, Montescena and the main village and includes the territory from the border of the city to the summits of the Monte Cervina and Ivigna in the Sarentino Alps. However, from a former rural village in the countryside, one of the main holidays resorts of South Tyrol developed.
The main sight of the municipality is undoubtedly Castel Scena, constructed around 1350 in the period of Margarete von Tirol. Still today descendants of archduke Johann, whose mortal remains are treasured in the mausoleum of Castel Scena, inhabit the antique murals.
However, also the natural landscape surrounding Scena needs to be experienced. The Roggia di Verdines trail, the Nature Fitness Park Scena-Cervina-Merano 2000 and the high rope course Taser provide, in addition, unforgettable holiday experiences, while in the winter season the nearby Merano 2000 skiing area attracts you to its well-groomed slopes.
