Ridanna

A valley of peace is home of the so-called “Huisele”.

> Altitude: 1,342 metres above sea level

The friendly village of Ridanna (see image) actually belongs to the municipality of Racines. Here you will still find the remains of the highest copper mine all over Europe, which after closing down was transformed into a museum. At an altitude of 1,400 - 2,700 m you can gain an insight into 800 years of mining…

Ridanna was also the home of Maria Faßnauner, whose 2.28 metres of height made her the giantess of Ridanna. At the beginning of the 20th century she left the village to join a circus.
And there was another famous person in Ridanna: the so-called “Huisele”, who was believed to boast magic skills, influence the weather and assume the most different kinds of shapes.

> We suggest: Taste ribbon noodles with chanterelles and embark on a hike across Passo Giovo towards Val Passiria!
