Near to the idyllic village of Casere, which actually belongs to the municipality of Predoi, lies Lake Waldner at an altitude of 2338 m. People call it the “calling lake”, as it is said to forecast storms and bad weather. At the very end of the valley towers a quaint little church with a legendary crucifix featuring several bullet-holes…

Today Valle Aurina is known for two characteristics: lace making and wood-carving. From beautiful blouses with lovely cuffs and collars to pretty Christmas tree decorations, here you will get them all.

Moreover Casere is very popular with those who love winter sports, not only thanks to its fairytale-like winter landscape, but also due to the “Sonnenloipe”, a sunny cross-country ski trial as well as the recently established biathlon training centre. Casere is also a perfect starting point for those who love ski mountaineering. From Casere you can for instance reach famous mountain peaks like the Picco dei Tre Signori, Monte Fumo, Pizzo Rosso di Predoi or Passo di Merbe.
