Also known as the Stilfserjoch Nature Park in German, it stretches from sunny Val Venosta across Passo dello Stelvio to neighbouring Trento, further to the province of Lombardy and right up to the border of the Swiss National Park.
Being one of the largest natural sanctuaries of the Alps, it is home to stags and chamois, eagles and ibexes, foxes and woodpeckers as well as an outstanding flora. Here you will find the precious edelweiss, the glacier buttercup, the black-vanilla orchid and numerous other rare flowers.
A special kind of experience promise the three information centres of the nature park:
> “aquaprad” in Prato: dedicated to the topic “water”, with 14 aquaria and a walkabout tour;
> “culturamartell” in Martello: dedicated to the topic “cultural landscapes” and organising slide shows, games evenings and special children days;
> “naturatrafoi” in Trafoi: dedicated to “geology” and “flora and fauna” and featuring a library as well as a research area.
