S. Andrea is located at 960 m asl and counts some 1,500 inhabitants, comprising S. Andrea paese, S. Andrea in Monte, Cornale, Plabach, S. Leonardo, Rutzenberg. Meluno and Cleran. Since 1941 S. Andrea makes part of the municipality of Bressanone, Located on the sunny slopes of the Plose and in the heart of a rural, natural landscape, S. Andrea offers a great view on Bressanone and the low mountain ranges of the Valle Isarco. The village boasts 200 days of sun per year and is also site of the lower terminus of the Plose gondola cableway.
In winter, the Plose offers 43 km of well-groomed ski slopes, much sun and a panoramic view on the Dolomites, No matter if you prefer winter hiking or tobogganing, there is something for every taste. A particular attraction is the 9 km long valley run Trametsch, which is by the way the longest of South Tyrol. In summer, the Plose becomes a fabulous hiking and biking area, which also offers a circular trail for families. Tennis courts, a bowling lake, a natural sledge track and an ice skating ground complete the offer regarding leisure time activities.
By the way: in the village of S. Andrea, the mountain road to the Passo delle Erbe starts. As this road is very popular with motorcyclists, the charming village is often also intermediate station for motorcyclists.
