Solda Skiing Area

The Solda Skiing Area in the Stelvio National Park in the west of South Tyrol makes you enjoy skiing until May, thanks to its glacier

The glacial skiing area of Solda or Sulden, one of the four skiing areas in the Val Venosta valley and part of the Ortler Skiarena and the cross-border Two Country Skiarena, features modern infrastructure. One of the lift facilities is the new 10-seater gondola lift, the most modern aerial cableway in the Alps, which replaces the Pulpito Chairlift. It starts at the edge of Solda and is easily accessible by the free ski bus service. Here, in the neighbourhood of King Ortles and Mt. Gran Zebrù, you can enjoy a beautiful view on other 12 three-thousanders. A splendid panorama!

44 km of ski slopes in all levels of difficulty are available: The Solda Skiing Area is well-known for its long downhill runs. The deep snow slopes are the ideal terrain for freeriders and telemarkers, and the fun park with halfpipe and boardercross is the boarders' paradise. It is situated right next to the Madriccio Hut at almost 3,000 m a.s.l. where also the Avalanche Training Camp is located, providing practical training in the use of avalanche transceivers. If you are a beginner or return to the slopes after some years, the Solda Ski School, founded 75 years ago, is there for you. It offers also children's courses and the popular Yeti-Club, a ski kindergarten in the lower part of the area.

The skiing season already starts at the end of October and ends half a year later, in early May. The connection slope between Pulpito and cable car turns into a 2 km long toboggan run, which is accessible to sledges only at night and is illuminated three times a week: It is one of several toboggan runs in the Val Venosta. There is also a 7 km long high-altitude cross-country trail, homologized for international competitions, and the rockfaces beneath the intermediate station, where at the frozen waterfalls ice climbing is practised.
