Lakes of Sopranes
The most beautiful group of mountain lakes in South Tyrol.
The Laghi di Sopranes, located in the heart of the nature park Gruppo di Tessa, is the largest high alpine lake plateau. Due to their elevated location, still in summer there is snow at the lakesides. The Sporanes lakes provide the city of Merano and surroundings with water. Moreover several hiking trails lead by the Sopranes lakes and offers hikers a great scenery.
The first lakes, which can be reached when hiking about 3 hours from Lagundo, are the Laghi di Latte (2,540 m). The Lago Lungo (2,377 m) however, is one of the largest of the lakes and features a lenght of 1 km and a with of 300 m. The Laghi di Sopranes also include the Lago Verde (2,338 m), Lago Nero (2,589 m), Lago Lavagna (2,501 m), Lago del Catino (2,512 m), Lago di Casere (2,117 m), Lago di Vizze (2,126 m) as well as the small “Mückenlacke” pond.
In general the area of the Lakes of Sporanes is a really fascinating place, not only due to its special flora and fauna.
