Naturpark Texelgruppe, Mutspitze bei Schenna 2009

Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park

This nature park covers an area of 31,349 hectares

The Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park stretches from Val Senales - known as the “valley of larches” due to the rich number of larches - and rich green Val Passiria to the main Alpine crest. Also known as the Texelgruppe Nature Park in German, it includes the Gruppo di Tessa Mountains as well as the Ötztal Alps and parts of the Stubai Alps.

The nature park is home above all to those animals preferring a rather mild climate such as the crag martin - did you know that this is the most northern region the crag martin is living in? Moreover you might see praying mantises, squirrels, ravens, golden eagles, beautiful butterflies and and and…

Even such reptiles as asp vipers or green lizards live in this area, mainly on the steppe-like slopes of Monte Sole in Val Venosta. The nature park information centre provides useful information about the area and is found in the middle school of Naturno.

> Our tip: an interesting walkabout throughout the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park such as a 5-days tour along the so-called Meraner Höhenweg Path!
