Parcines
Dominated by the impressive scenery of the Gruppo di Tessa mountains, there is Parcines, situated only a stone’s throw from Merano.
The municipality of Parcines stretches on the foot of the Gruppo di Tessa and represents the „western gate“ to the area of Merano and surroundings. The area stretches from 500 m in the valley up to the 3,337 m high Roteck mountain. Part of the municipality are the villages of Rablà, Monte Sole, Tel, Quadrato, Vallettina, Tablà as well as the village of Parcines itself.
Unique world-wide and absolutely worth a visit is the Typewriter Museum of Parcines. Named after Peter Mitterhofer, the most famous citizen of the municipality and founder of the typewriter in 1864, this museum exhibits 1,200 m asl.
Moreover Parcines provides a network of hiking trails of more than 200 km. Pleasantly easy walks in the valley, but also challenging mountain tours can be undertaken in the village.
Also for paragliders and hang-gliders, this place is a popular spot of land, as the area is a highly frequented flying area.
