San Paolo is the first village you come across when you reach Rodengo
San Paolo belongs to the municipality of Rodengo and is located at 860 m asl. Driving from Rio di Pusteria towards Rodengo, San Paolo is the first village you come across. Short before you reach the village, a mountain road branches off, taking to San Benedetto and Chivo. On this road you also reach the Alpe di Rodengo Alpine pasture.
San Paolo has got some 100 inhabitants and consists of a little centre with ancient, historic buildings and well-preserved farmsteads. Already in 1341 the S. Paolo church was mentioned for the first time. Also the Graa pond, a pond of private nature, belongs to the municipality of San Paolo. Within a few minutes only, you can reach Rio di Pustieria and the episcopal city of Bressanone.
Our tip: a visit of the Alpe di Rodengo Alpine pasture, which can be reached on a mountain road taking its course from San Paolo. The Alpe di Siusi pasture is a recreation area that is worth a visit in all the seasons.
