San Vigilio di Marebbe (St. Vigil in Enneberg) is the name of the main village in the municipality of Marebbe. Here, 10 km south of Brunico, it can even claim its own valley, the Val di Marebbe. The idyllic centre with its small church dedicated to St. Vigilius of Trent, which gives the village its name, welcomes you with chic cafés, cosy restaurants and numerous small shops. Wide meadows stretch out all around. When the sun is shining and the sky is blue, with the mighty Dolomite peaks in the background, it looks like a little storybook paradise.
San Vigilio is located in the third largest nature park of South Tyrol, the ideal place for hikers, mountain bikers, nature lovers and all those who find their inner centre in nature and the mountain world. There is also the Kingdom of Fanes, one of the most beautiful landscapes in South Tyrol and the setting of a famous Dolomite legend. The Legend Trail near San Vigilio will tell you what it is all about. Al Plan de Mareo, as the holiday resort is called in Ladin, is also a great adventure destination for families and young people, which is split between nature experiences - the stream even offers its own beach -, peculiar museums and a dose of adrenaline: 100 metres above the ground, Europe's largest zipline takes you from the mountain down into the valley.
When snow covers the valley, San Vigilio becomes the meeting place for winter sports enthusiasts. The wonderful pistes on the Plan de Corones can be reached from the edge of the village, and the lifts still take you to the perfectly groomed pistes for sunny skiing in late spring. In the valley you can choose between the Cianross toboggan run, the 23 km long cross-country skiing track into the Marebbe Valley in the heart of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, and a horse-drawn sleigh ride.
