Our destination today is Mt. Sasso delle Nove (Sass dles Nö, 2,968 m a.s.l.), considered the most beautiful panoramic mountain above the Fanes Alp in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. We start at the Pederoa Mountain Hut on a wide forested trail towards the Fanes Mountain Hut (Fanesalm). In zigzag we overcome the first section, before we reach the high-alpine plateau of the Fanes. After about 1.5 hours we get to the turnoff to the Ücia Fanes and the Lavarella Mountain Huts. At this point we start ascending in the open country, along the slopes on the right, towards the Plan de Salines at the foot of Mt. Sasso delle Nove (Neunerspitze).
We traverse the rocky promontory at its foot and walk up the averagely steep eastern slopes. The higher we get, the more impressive the panorama gets. Our destination is visible, but it is not as near as it seems. Before a steep southern slope needs to be overcome (avalanche-prone!).
Finally we reach the winter summit of Mt. Sasso delle Nove. It is rarely recommendable to scale the summer peak in winter, as it requires respectively secure conditions. Great tour in a fantastic scenery, ideal in spring, be careful, rocky terrain in the upper part. Tour requires secure conditions!
