An encounter with owls and birds of prey is possible at the Owl Park in the Val Badia valley - "Eulenpark St. Vigil" in German, "Parco delle Civette a San Vigilio" in Italian -, which is run by owner Mario: About 60 animals can be found here, and you can get to know them as part of an owl demonstration or didactic guided tour.
In the Owl Park you can experience the curiosities of the different species: Did you know that the barn owl is among the most widespread bird species of all, although you hardly ever see it? Or that the eagle owl used to be called "Jutzeule" in former times? And that the friendly and cute tawny owl has a wingspan of almost 1 metre? The Owl Park offers guided tours for young and old.
And how can the Owl Park San Vigilio be reached? It is located at the Ciamaor Sports Centre in San Vigilio di Marebbe, about 17 km from Brunico in the Val Pusteria valley. By the way: You can visit another bird centre, the "Gufyland" Bird Care Centre at Tyrol Castle, in the Merano region.
