video : Rainguthof Animal World in Caprile
There is a lot going on in South Tyrol for families relating to animals. Llamas, eagle owls, eagles, donkeys, deer, raccoons and reindeer await you. Did you know, that Mt. Croda Rossa in the Upper Val Pusteria is home to the only reindeer herd of Italy?
There are also two red deer enclosures in the Val Venosta valley and the "Gufyland" Bird Care Centre at Castel Tyrol, which brings you closer to the interesting world of native birds of prey in the form of a flight show. To the delight of small children, South Tyrol also has two animal parks with petting zoos: the Gustav Mahler Game Reserve in the Upper Val Pusteria, where raccoons and majestic deer await you, and the Rainguthof Animal World in Caprile in the surroundings of Merano, a true animal paradise next to an ancient farm.
A little more action? How about the popular Llama-Trekking, which is offered in the upper Valle Isarco valley and on the Renon High Plateau? Or you celebrate at the traditional festivals and cattle drives, when the cows, sheep and horses are brought back from the summer pastures in the high mountains to the valley for the winter. Happy celebrating, experiencing and enjoying!
