In San Vigilio di Marebbe, or more precisely in Bagn on the eastern edge of the village, starts the Legend Trail - "Sagenweg St. Vigil" in German, "Sentiero delle Leggende" in Italian - that tells about the king's daughter Dolasilla and the Kingdom of Fanes. This is the national epic of the Ladins and an important part of Ladin literature: It is about marmots and golden eagles, alliances and battles between princes and knights, princesses and enchanted weapons, monsters and kings.
The 2.8-kilometre long "Tru dles liondes" leads in 45 minutes along the Rio Rudo stream to the Ciamaur sports field, and then over the bridge and through the forest to the Fanes-Senes-Braies visitor centre. The trail climbs up to 1,245 m a.s.l. and passes 11 stations.
All of them tell the legendary legends of the Fanes Kingdom. A highlight for the whole family in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, one of the largest protected areas in South Tyrol!
