Corvara in Badia

In the heart of Alta Badia, Corvara is situated between the Col Alt-Pralongià High Plateau and the Puez-Odle Nature Park.

One of the five Ladin municipalities of the Val Badia is called Corvara, framed by mighty mountains such as the Sella Massif, the Fanes Group and the Puez Group with the eponymous nature park. The districts of Colfosco and Pescosta extend around the main village of Corvara, as far as the valley stations of the cable cars and the Alta Badia golf course, which is idyllically located at the foot of the Sella Group and the Sassongher.

Already in the 18th century, young men began to guide visitors coming to Alta Badia into the surrounding mountains. They were mainly natural scientists and geologists from Great Britain who wanted to explore the Dolomites, later followed by wealthy travellers from other countries. Therefore, the village is known as the "cradle of tourism in Alta Badia". In 1938 the first lift was built and after World War 2 a ski school finally followed. A hiking and winter sports resort in a class of its own was born, which even today is known far beyond the borders…

From here you can climb Mount Piz Boé, the easiest three-thousand-metre peak in the Dolomites, as well as enter the Sella Ronda in winter, the ski round trip around the Sella Massif in the Alta Badia Ski Area. Between June and July, the cyclists meet in Corvara. The first event is the Sellaronda Bike Day, during which the roads and passes around the Sella Massif are closed so that you can experience this mountain world in a very unique way. This is followed by the Maratona dles Dolomites for racing cyclists who face a total of seven Dolomite passes.
