The main village of the Valle di Tures captivates with its mighty castle, impressive waterfalls and a wide range of leisure activities
A mighty castle, impressive waterfalls, a biotope, a wellness facility, a parish museum and a skiing area - Campo Tures is extremely versatile. "Sond", as it is known in dialect, consists of five hamlets, which stretch from Molini di Tures in the valley basin to Caminata and the main village of Campo Tures.
Majestically enthroned above is Tures Castle, which has watched over the activity in this narrow valley for 800 years. The municipality also includes the mountain hamlet of Acereto, birthplace of the extreme mountaineer Hans Kammerlander, and the Valle di Riva, where the well-known Riva Waterfalls rush over the rocks. The landscape is shaped by the roughly 80 three-thousand-metre peaks of the Tures and Aurina Valleys.
They include the Rieserferner Group, which towers over Campo Tures and is largely protected within the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park. On the valley floor near Molini di Tures lies the Aurino Floodplain Forest Biotope, through which the Aurino Adventure Trail and the "Pusterbike" Cycle Path run, leading up from Brunico.
Leisure activities range from hiking and mountain biking to horse riding, paragliding, and rafting. In winter, between Campo Tures and Lutago, the gateway to the Valle Aurina, you will find the lifts of the Speikboden Skiing Area. Together with the Klausberg Ski Resort further up the valley, it forms the SkiWorld Ahrntal. This also has several attractions for families.
These include the Klausberg Zipline over the "Brugga-Klomme" gorge, and the "Funtaklaus" fun park. Events such as the Campo Tures Cheese Festival in spring, the Taufers Street Food Festival in summer, along with the "Reina Kiekemma" cattle drive, the TalKlang FestiVal Campo Tures, and the Valle Aurina "Sunnsat" Run in autumn, ensure a vibrant atmosphere.
