Campo Tures has the flair of a small mountain town. The centre spreads out on both sides of the Valle Aurina road and charms visitors with its small cafés, ice cream parlours, family-run shops and historic residences. One of these is Neumelans Castle on the edge of the village: The late 16th-century building is considered one of the most beautiful residences in the whole of South Tyrol.
In the town hall square of Campo Tures village (Sand in Taufers Dorf), you will find the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Visitor Centre. During a walk through the village or along the Aurino River, you can see the mighty Tures Castle enthroned on a rock. Its history dates back to the 13th century, and you can explore it right inside the castle. With special events such as its "Witching Hours" and abseiling from the keep in summer, the castle places particular emphasis on its younger visitors.
The second museum is the Tures Parish Museum, which displays its treasures centrally in an old granary near the parish church. If you would like to combine a visit to the castle with some exercise, the Campo Tures Nature Trail is ideal: It takes you right past the castle.
Another walk starts at the edge of the village: the Saint Francis' Path of the Senses, which leads to the Riva Waterfalls in the neighbouring Riva di Tures. In winter, the Speikboden Skiing Area, which also has two toboggan runs, can be reached in a few minutes by car or public bus.
