Concert AllaBreve & Cantarmonie
Info
Description
Cross-border choir project South Tyrol - East Tyrol The idea behind this cross-border choir project is to foster friendly and professional relationships between the vocal ensemble "AllaBreve" (Brixen/South Tyrol) and the vocal ensemble "Cantarmonie" (East Tyrol). Natalia Lukina, a Ukrainian-born choir director and voice coach, has led the vocal ensemble "AllaBreve" since 2019. Lukina lives and works in Carinthia and is on friendly terms with the directors of the East Tyrolean vocal ensemble "Cantarmonie," founded in 2022. The choir is led by Gernot Kacetl and Alois Wendlinger.
Among the works to be performed is the "Cantus Missae," Op. 109 in E-flat major for two four-part choirs by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger (1839–1901).
The mass was composed in January 1878, dedicated to the newly elected Pope Leo XIII, and premiered on January 1, 1879, in the All Saints' Court Church in Munich.
The work draws on the compositional techniques of early classical vocal polyphony and is considered one of the most important purely vocal masses of the 19th century.
