Alpin Arena Senales

The Val Senales Skiing Area, the glacier skiing area of the famous Ortler Skiarena, welcomes you on 3,200 m a.s.l

In the Val Senales valley in the north-west of Merano you can ski from autumn until late spring. The Senales Glacier attracts even national teams which prepare themselves for the coming season in the Alpin Arena Senales. The Senales Glacier Cable Car starts in the village of Maso Corto, passes the steep rock faces and takes you up to the Grawand - Croda delle Cornacchie mountain station at 3,212 m a.s.l., where Europe's highest located hotel, the Glacier Hotel Grawand, sits enthroned. At Christmas 2023, the new gondala lift from Maso Corto to the mountain station was inaugurated, which offers place for 80 persons in each gondola.

This skiing area on the border of South Tyrol and Austria offers almost 30 km of well-groomed slopes - among them the new Transhumanz Slope of medium difficulty, the easy Hasen downhill run, and the enlarged Lazaun Slope with snow-making facility. The black Leo Gurschler Slope, however, is the training slope for slalom and giant slalom. At the Glocken Ski Lift, the perfect place for beginners, you can find Tiroli's Kinderland and the Val Senales Fun Park for the boarders. New, however, is the separate ski tour route, which leads from Maso Corto via the Teufelsegg Hut to the Bella Vista Hut or to the Croda delle Cornacchie - it will turn into a speed hiking route in summer.

The Ski and Snowbard School Val Senales helps with the first steps on the skis or on the snowboard. A special highlight at the mountain station is the Iceman Oetzi Peak, a stunning platform with a view as far as the Oetztal Alps. The Lazaun toboggan run as well as the Lazaun and Hochjoch cross-country ski tracks - the latter is a high-altitude track on the glacier - complete the winter offer of the Alpin Arena Senales. It is part of the Ortler Skiarena carousel.
