What is the difference between the Trafoi skiing area in the Val Venosta and other ski regions? Gustav Thoeni! The famous Alpine ski champion was the winner of five World Cups in the Seventies, 24 World Cup races, and a gold and two silver medals in Olympic Winter Games. Today, he is the director of the Trafoi Ski School which offers group courses and individual ski lessons.
The cable car starts directly in the village centre of Trafoi, and takes you into the skiing area in the heart of the Stelvio National Park. Up there, at 2,250 m a.s.l., there are 10 km of mostly easy and medium difficult slopes. A ski kindergarten takes good care of its young guests.
Ski touring, sledding, snow-shoeing... the mountain village of Trafoi all'Ortles offers a wide range of possibilities. The 5 km long toboggan run, for example, follows the famous Passo dello Stelvio road, whereas a beautiful ski tour takes you up to the Forcola Mountain Hut at 2,153 m a.s.l. It has been said that this is the best place to enjoy the panorama on the Ortles Group.
