A world without music is a boring world. Fortunately South Tyrol offers a wide selection of music events.
If you love music and you would like to visit a music festival, South Tyrol is an extraordinarily good choice. For lovers of jazz music, the event of first choice is the South Tyrol Jazz Festival as well as LanaLive, taking place in summer months. Internationally famous jazz musicians are giving concerts in the frame of this festival.
The Merano Music Weeks, however, offer classical music, also the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks taking place in Dobbiaco, Val Pusteria. As far as this area is concerned, we also have to mention the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival. In the frame of this festival, choirs of international fame give concerts at the mountains huts and alpine pastures of Alta Val Pusteria.
Another remarkable music festival is the so-called “Xong” festival taking place in Val Venosta. It is a cultural event offering a wide variety of music and literary events. In the frame of this festival, there are also workshops and also theatres are performed. And a curiosity regarding this festival: it takes place in the tri-border region, which means between Italian, Switzerland and Austria.
Steinegg Live, however, offers a little more rocky music style. Internationally famous singers and band such as the Austiran pop singer Rainhard Fendrich, Gianna Nannini, the band „Nazareth“ or the „Spider Murphy Gang“ have already performed on the stage of Collepietra, the little village close to Bolzano which in the meantime is famous for this festival.
However, not only concerts and performances by international stars are worth to be visited, also local musicians convince the audience with their sound. Almost every village has its own music band, all of them are exercising almost the whole year round. By the way, a visit of one of the concerts by one of the local music bands is a must-do in your holidays.
