Ronco (Rungg) is quietly situated away from traffic, above the main village of Luson. Together, the two hamlets form the centre of the Valle di Luson, which extends between the Valle Isarco near Bressanone and the Passo delle Erbe towards Ladinia. The bus stops both above Luson at the turning for Ronco and directly in the hamlet, at the Rungger and Grünfelder stops.
An interesting, eight-kilometre farm-to-farm hike - a round trip to the typical farms of the valley - starts in Luson village. It leads up the sunny slope to a high moor and continues to the Luson Alp and on to the Prato Croce Mountain Hut. There you can try homemade Alpine cheese specialities like "Ziggo Kas" and "Lisna Bergkas". Afterwards, a path once used for transporting hay takes you steeply downhill in places back to Luson village, passing the abandoned Gargitt farmstead.
Ronco di Luson is a great place for farm holidays and for learning to ski. Below the hamlet, right on the valley road, is the small Ronco Ski Lift - the only one in the Luson Valley. As an ideal practice and children's ski lift, it covers a vertical drop of around 120 metres.
The lift was completely renovated and modernised a few years ago, which is why the ski and snowboard courses are now especially popular with children. The Luson Ski School also offers some adult courses in the nearby Plose ski area above Bressanone.
