On Tuesday, December 2, at 6:00 PM, Anna Sturaro will give a lecture in Italian at the South Tyrol Museum of Natural Sciences titled:
“The European Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus): a quiet neighbor to know and protect”.
During the lecture, she will discuss the biology of the European hedgehog, its role in the ecological balance, and the main diseases that can affect this species. She will also provide practical advice on how to recognize critical situations, when to intervene, and what to do until professional veterinary help arrives.
Anna Sturaro studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bologna before moving to England, where she completed a Master’s degree in Global Wildlife Health and Conservation at the University of Bristol. She worked as a veterinarian at the Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation centers in the country, and for The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a charity organization dealing with wildlife management and cases of animal abuse.
The lecture is organized in collaboration with the CRAB Wildlife Rescue Center (Centro Recupero Avifauna Bolzano) and the association Südtirol Exotic Vets. Admission is free; however, booking on the museum’s website is recommended.
