The municipality of Cornedo extends at 283 - 1,680 m asl and represents an oasis of calm and tranquillity in the holiday area of Catinaccio-Latemar. Comprising the localities of Prato all’Isarco, San Valentino in Campo, Cardano, Cornedo and Collepietra the municipality is delimited by the three rivers Isarco, Ega and Bria.
The municipality is named after Castel Cornedo, which rises on a steep rock above the valley. The largest villages that belong to the municipality are Collepietra and San Valentino in Campo, where the local folk museum as well as the Max Valier Observatory are the main attractions.
The great landscape is by the way ideal terrain for hikes and cycling tours. Also in winter the snow-covered landscape can be experienced, e.g. by snow-shoeing. The near Latermar-Obereggen skiing area as well as the Ski Area Carezza Karersee make winter sports enthusiasts’ hearts leap for joy.
