The Living Library
Info
Description
This Saturday, Piazza Berloffa in Bolzano will host a special edition of the Living Library: a public event open to everyone, in which the "books" are real people — current and former inmates of the Trento Detention Centre — who are willing to share their stories and answer questions from anyone who stops to listen.
The format is straightforward: the "human books" will be seated in the square, each introduced by an evocative title and a short description. Visitors can freely choose which book they want to "read" and sit with them for an individual conversation of 20–30 minutes, in an informal and confidential setting. The event will be held in Italian.
The aim is to bring together people who would rarely meet in everyday life, enabling direct conversation and challenging prejudices around the world of incarceration. This is the first time the project has come to the province of Bolzano. The event is organised in collaboration with Biblioteca Culture del Mondo, ODOS and the Municipality of Bolzano, as part of the project "Liberi da dentro 6", coordinated by APAS and supported by the Fondazione Caritro of the Province of Trento. In Bolzano, the initiative forms part of the Zentrum Social Park programme of the Municipality of Bolzano.
Free admission. In case of rain, the event will take place at Biblioteca Culture del Mondo, via Macello 50.
