The 2,116 m high Mt. Roen above the village of Termeno is located on the border between South Tyrol and the Trentino
The Monte Roen (2,116 m a.s.l.) - simply called Roen in German - is not only the highest peak of the Mendola Ridge, but also of the whole Nonsberg Group. The rather flat peak is situated on the territory of the Trentino and resembles a high plateau, on its feet the South Tyrolean village of Termeno sulla Strada del Vino can be found. The view from the top is breath-taking, gazing out over the Dolomites, the Ortles Alps, the south of South Tyrol and to the well-known Brenta Group and Adamello-Presanella Alps in the Trentino.
Mt. Roen is also popular with hikers, as its summit is easy to reach. From the Mendola Pass - reachable by car or with the Mendola Funicular - the top can be scaled within a 3 hours' walk. The hike across mountain pine forests is of medium difficulty and you have got several possibilities to stop for a bite to eat or have a drink, e.g. at the Mezzavia, Genziana or Romeno Mountain Huts.
