MTB tour to Lake Pontelletto

From Fortezza we cycle via Le Cave and Pontelletto to the Lago di Pontelletto (Lake Pontelletto)

Fortezza village is well connected to the rail network and easily accessible. Here our quite demanding MTB tour to the Lake Pontelletto, a picturesque mountain lake in the Valle Isarco, starts. The Upper Valle Isarco Cycle Path towards Vipiteno proceeds straight past the railway station of Fortezza, we follow it until Mezzaselva, and then towards Le Cave where we take the mountain road up to the parking space near the Lechnerhof farm.

The ascent is considerable, but the road is well asphalted. A roaring waterfall distracts us from the exertions. In the bend after the parking space the gravel path starts, we follow the forest path, which leads us to the Malga di Pontelletto mountain hut. At the beginning some really steep sections have to be managed. After about 2.5 km we reach the Malga di Pontelletto which is open in summer. Here we park our bicycles and walk along the path no. 14 to the Lake Pontelletto (15 minutes). On hot summer days this idyllic mountain lake promises cooling and relaxation.

To arrive our starting point we cycle back the same way. Demanding tour with steep sections. The combination of cycling, hiking and even swimming on hot summer days offers variety. This MTB tour can also be done as hiking tour (ascent about 2 hours). Winter hike during the cold months.
