Selva di Fuori

The farms of Selva di Fuori form the entrance to the “Water Valley”, the Valle di Selva dei Molini at the foot of the Zillertal Alps

Selva di Fuori is the name of one of the three districts of the municipality of Selva dei Molini, a side valley of the Valli di Tures and Aurina. Interestingly, like almost all buildings and villages in the Valle di Selva dei Molini, the farms are located on the orographic left side, where the sun shines. Between the farms rises the Mary Help of Christians Church known as "Moarkirchl" (Moar Church).

The Moar Farms in Selva di Fuori are a group of farms belonging to the mountain village: The picturesque little church stands at the highest point of the hill. One of the farm owners had it built around 400 years ago, probably in gratitude or to honour a vow. It was precisely at this time that the plague hit the Valli di Tures and Aurina valleys and stopped briefly at the village border of Selva di Fuori, so that the valley was miraculously spared from the plague.

Above Selva di Fuori (Aussermühlwald) rise the majestic peaks of the Aurina Mountains, where the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park can also be found. In this unique landscape is the Weizgruber Hut, a popular hiking destination in every season. The idyllic wooden hut at an altitude of more than 2,000 m offers South Tyrolean dishes with fresh eggs and herbs until autumn. During the cold season, you can combine the winter hike to the Weizgruber Hut with a 4.4 km long sledge ride.
