Lake Sompunt and the Paraciora wildlife enclosure in Pedraces are popular destinations for those seeking relaxation

Opposite the centre of Badia, on the other side of the Rio Gadera stream, the hamlet of Pedraces (Pedratsches) lies beneath the impressive rock faces of the Gardenaccia high plateau and Mt. Sasso di Santa Croce. Historic farmhouses and newer residential buildings are scattered across the meadows and slopes here. Small shops can be found among them. Pedraces also includes the hamlet of Sompunt, where a lake and a wildlife enclosure are located.
In the spacious Paraciora wildlife enclosure, roe deer and red deer live and can be observed from a circular path. The seven-hectare site also features the Sompunt family farm with its sun terrace, inviting you to enjoy a coffee in the sun.
If you follow the road from Sompunt further uphill - on foot, by bike, or by car - you will reach the small Lake Sompunt at an altitude of 1,460 metres. In winter, it transforms into an ice skating rink with views of the rugged rock faces of the Sasso di Santa Croce, the Sas dla Crusc.
In the cold season, however, skiing and snowboarding take centre stage. This is because above Badia, the Alta Badia Skiing Area extends with its World Cup slopes and pistes for beginners. The 130 kilometres of pistes with Dolomite views also include the circuit of an entire mountain massif: The Sellaronda, the Four Passes Tour around the majestic Sella Group, is doable in one day.
