Brunico is the centre of the homonymous municipality. Shopping in Via Centrale and a visit to the MMM Ripa are absolute must-dos.

The city of Brunico is located at 838 m a.s.l. and has got some 11,000 inhabitants. Its local mountain is the 2,275 m high Plan de Corones, which is not only highly frequented in winter. Its offers and possibilities in summer include for instance a freeride trail, several walking and hiking trails as well as the comfortable ascent via funicular.
Also the city itself is of course absolutely worth a visit. A walk across the Via Centrale or Via Bastioni with their colourful façades, a cinema evening in the Odeon, bouldering in the climbing gym, a concert in the youth centre UFO or a visit to one of the sacred buildings such as the S. Caterina church, Brunico is as manifold as its visitors.
Since June 2011, Brunico has got one more highlight to offer, that is the Messner Mountain Museum MMM Ripa at Castel Brunico, dedicated to mountain people all over the world. And after a visit to the museum? Have a freshly brewed beer in the Rienzbräu brewery.
Summer open air concerts are offered at Piazza del Mercato, also the legendary Giro d’Italia used to stop or pass in Brunico. What is particularly amazing is the Christmas Market of Brunico, which every year takes part in Via Bastioni.
By the way: every day at midday, the Concordia bell resounds at the summit of the Plan de Corones.
