The sunny village in the Val Pusteria is known for its mills, earth pyramids and living traditions

Whether it's minigolf, volleyball or tobogganing, Terento village provides plenty of variety, along with its famous Earth Pyramids and mills. The village is the main hub of the municipality of the same name, which stretches across the surrounding meadows and slopes up to the tree line, where a few scattered farms can still be seen. In the tranquil, cobbled centre, cafés and shops cluster around the Parish Church of St George. The sports zone is located just outside the village.
However, the tranquillity disappears for a few days when it is time to celebrate. The " 's Terner Schmelzpfandl" series of events, in particular, revives old traditions and is well-known far and wide. As the village was once considered the breadbasket of the Val Pusteria, a great deal of grain was grown here. This also had to be milled, which led to the construction of numerous mills.
Celebrations such as the "Terner Bauernkuchl" and the Mill Festival in Terento village (Terenten Dorf) are held in memory of this tradition. At the Harvest Festival, you can watch how people used to work and experience the good old days up close, which, however, were often anything but easy. The aforementioned mills and the Terento Earth Pyramids can be explored on well-maintained hiking trails. Other paths, the Terento Legend Trails, show you spots such as the Witches' Stone.
The hike on the Marmot Trail takes you higher up to the Moarhof Hut and on to the Lago Verde, the Green Lake, at an altitude of well over 2,000 metres. In late autumn, the winter fun begins, for which Terento is ideally equipped: An ice-skating rink, the panoramic cross-country ski trail, a small ski lift and two toboggan runs - one of which is right in the village - ensure varied days in the snow.
