As part of the Max Valier Weeks, the South Tyrol Museum of Nature and the Hermann Oberth Museum in Feucht, near Nuremberg, present the traveling exhibition “Max Valier – First Promoter of Spaceflight”. The opening will take place on Monday, May 12, at 6:30 PM at the Centro Trevi – Trevilab in Bolzano, with Provincial Councillor for Museums, Philipp Achammer. Michael Zuber, curator of the exhibition and director of the Hermann Oberth Museum, will guide visitors through the exhibition and explain the most important exhibits.
The exhibition features original documents, historical photographs, models, and multimedia installations shedding light on the life and work of Bolzano-born space pioneer Max Valier (1895–1930). A passionate advocate of Hermann Oberth’s visions on interplanetary travel, Valier not only worked on revolutionary ideas but also on the practical testing of rockets, until his tragic death during an experiment in 1930. The exhibition honors him as a trailblazer for subsequent developments in space travel.
The exhibition is free to visit at the Centro Trevi – Trevilab in Bolzano until May 25 and is part of the Max Valier Weeks (www.maxvalier.it), organized by the Italian University Movement (MUI) in collaboration with the South Tyrol Museum of Nature. From May 29, the exhibition will be on display at the South Tyrol Planetarium in San Valentino alla Muta.
