Description

Documenting regional flora is standard practice in many European countries, and South Tyrol has a long tradition that began in the 1800s. After being interrupted during World War I, systematic documentation resumed in the second half of the 20th century. Over the past 25 years, the South Tyrol Museum of Nature has played a key role.

At the upcoming lecture by the South Tyrol Flora Working Group, titled “Flora Under Observation: New Plant Species in South Tyrol (1970–2024)”, Thomas Wilhalm will provide an overview of changes in the region’s flora since 1970 and share new insights into its composition.

Wilhalm is the museum’s curator for botany and is responsible for cataloguing South Tyrol’s plant species.

Free entry.
