This cycling tour takes you across the Alpe di Villandro

> Area: Valle Isarco/Velturno
> Distance: 27 km
> Difference in altitude: 1,250 m
> Highest point: 2,302 m (Croce di Lazfons)
> Starting point: village of Lazfons (1,160 m)
> Getting there: exit the motorway A22 in Chiusa/Val Gardena, continue towards Chiusa, reach Velturno, turn left, continue to Lazfons
> Ridable: all the way, except 10 minutes of wheeling

Superb view during the entire ride. Slightly exhausting but easy to ride. With a good map in your hands the route might even be altered at some stages.

Starting point is the village of Lazfons. Follow the signpost saying Kaseregg and cycle slightly downwards. After some 1.5 km you arrive to an ascending slope. Continue on an asphalted street until the Kaseregg hut at 1,961 m. Continue for 3 km until a signpost on your left says Stöfflhütte refuge.

If you do not want to wheel your bike you ignore this signpost and continue straight. Arrive to the Stöfflhütte refuge at 2,057 m on the Alpe di Villandro pasture, where you may enjoy a tasty lunch. Now you have to cycle back but only for some meters until you come to the path no. 1 leading towards the S.Croce di Lazfons refuge at 2,302 m – also known as Latzfonser Kreuz in German.

Fortunately, the path is not too steep and easily ridable despite numerous stones on the way. You must wheel your bike only the last 500 m before reaching the S.Croce di Lazfons refuge. Don’t miss to visit the quaint little church near to the refuge. And now you can look forward to the descent. On path no. 17 you reach the Brixner Hütte and the Kuhhof hut. Once arrived to the Kuhhof hut, continue on the street leading to Lazfons.
