Hike to the Rif. Toni Demetz mountain hut

Hike from the Passo Sella across the Stone City and past the Rifugio Vicenza hut to the Rifugio Toni Demetz hut at 2,700 m a.s.l.: Back to the Passo Sella we take a historic standing cable car

Starting point and also final destination of our circular hike is the Sella Pass (Sellajoch). Here we take the path no. 526, which leads us – passing the rocky landscape of the Stone City - to the Rifugio Emilio Comici mountain hut in about 40 minutes. From there the path becomes a little more difficult: a narrow trail winds along the steep slopes below Mt. Sassolungo to the panoramic Col Ciaulonch. We walk a little further and reach the junction of the path no. 525, which leads up to the Rifugio Vicenza mountain hut (Langkofelhütte).

After lunch at the hut the steepest and most demanding section of our hiking tour follows: Through the Sassolungo Group we follow the trail no. 525 up to the Forcella Sassolungo at almost 2,700 m a.s.l. Arrived at the top we have reached our destination - the Toni Demetz Mountain Hut is also located there. At the end of our mountain hike something special awaits us!

It's the descent with the only standing cable car of South Tyrol. It is neither cheap nor very comfortable, but to feel like in the pioneer years of tourism has its charm. During the trip you can also enjoy once again the beautiful view across the Passo Sella and its surroundings.
